Last Hurree Babu was spotted was on national television, chewing the ends of the Babu’s locks and shooting in “Indian neutral” about the probable shortlist. Each time the Babu was quizzed for 2005’s category-toppers, the Babu picked a few strands from the bunch (like Mrs. Dalloway choosing her yellow roses) and pulled them back, only to let them slip off again with a clever left-side-of-the-brain nod right at the moment of truth.
