Rushdie’s going to be visiting Calcutta soon, and the city is thrilled. Among the intellectual issues my brethren might want to discuss is whether he is really hotter than Brad Pitt. The only time I met the man, he wasn’t in the best of moods because a jury led by Shashi Deshpande had just dissed him and handed the Commonwealth Prize for Best Book of the year to J M Coetzee. All I noticed is that his eyebrows tend to waggle in times of stress. In a cute sort of way, but then I’ve never seen Brad Pitt’s eyebrows, waggling or not.
